What is the STAR method?
STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action and Result. It's the structure interviewers expect for behavioural and competency-based questions such as "Tell me about a time you…". You set the scene, say what you were responsible for, explain what you personally did, and finish with the outcome, ideally with a number. Rehearse writes your answers in this structure and checks each part when you practise.
How does Rehearse turn my CV into interview answers?
Rehearse reads your whole CV, picks the five to ten strongest and most distinct achievements, and writes each as a spoken STAR answer of about two minutes. It never invents facts: where a detail is missing, such as a percentage or a time saved, it leaves a highlighted gap for you to fill in.

Does it work for competency-based and civil service interviews?
Yes. Competency-based interviews, including civil service behaviour questions, are built on the same STAR structure. Rehearse groups your stories by theme, such as leadership, delivery and working together, so you can prepare an example for each behaviour you'll be assessed on.
How long should an interview answer be?
For behavioural questions, aim for around two minutes: long enough to cover all four parts of STAR, short enough to keep the interviewer with you. Rehearse times every answer and shows your pace in words per minute.
Is my CV private?
Your CV, stories and job adverts are saved privately to your account, protected so only you can see them, and you can delete everything at any time from Settings.
